I read a 1-star review on here and couldn't believe my eyes! I have to take the reviewer's word for her experience, but I wonder whether she actually was at the same pizza place! I've only given the Lake Oswego location four stars because I've only been there once, but I'm giving the Stark Street location five stars! If you don't like thick crust, tell them... they offer four different levels of thickness!

Our daughter told us we had to try Flying Pie Pizzeria--she said it was the best pizza in Portland, hands down. So on our last visit to see her, we ventured to the Lake Oswego branch. Two other friends joined us, and were equally impressed. Flying Pie is not for trendoids--no strange toppings that would likely only please a diehard vegan. They do offer various thicknesses, including a stuffed baked pizza that you would get at a place like Giordano's. We opted for the standard Chicago thick crust version. One nice touch is they offered extra red sauce, extra garlic and extra Italian seasoning, all for free. We decided to get all three! We also had different ingredients on half the pizza to meet the request of our pineapple loving daughter. Thus we had a total of 6 different toppings on the pizza but we were only charged for 4 (cha-ching!). What truly impressed us was the quality and quantity of the toppings. At many pizzerias, you will order 4 toppings and all of them get reduced in quantity in order to fit the other toppings (as if you did not notice). At Flying Pie, you get prodigious quantities of all toppings you order. Nevertheless, the pizza was cooked to perfection and delicious. My wife will never eat more than two pieces of a large pizza (which preserves her girlish figure), but at Flying Pie, she went for three--the pizza is that good. This costs more than going to Pizza Hut, but it is worth every penny.

One of my three favorite pizza places ever! (I don't rank the top three) the amazing amount of toppings on their pizzas is an experience in and of itself. Their pies are always amazing, with home made sausage and garlic add on. Plus they have a good selection of always rotating beer. The staff us always been friendly and I very much like the decorations on the walls. I will continue to be a loyal customer. (And for those wondering my other two favorite pizza places are Wallerys in west Salem, and Wall Street Pizza in Gresham)

I realize it's a jerk move to come into a place right before closing. I work in service. However, when you close at 10 and I come in at 9:10 and your salad bar has already been cleared out and we are told repeatedly, after we said we wanted to eat here (spent the evening on an outing. Kids were hungry. Didn't want to make them wait another 20 minutes until we were home) that they close at 10, it was clear that we were taking our food to go. Tall, dark haired guy wearing a headband was the opposite of friendly. He was cold, rude and impatient. He then went on to complain to other employees about the restaurant and his job. The food here is great, but I'm in no hurry to return.

Great pizza! Super tasty and the ingredients are fresh, which is probably why it's more expensive. Worth the cost when I occasionally crave pizza. The "miss piggy" pizza is my favorite, it comes loaded with meat and the medium size easily feeds 3-4 pizza.

Great crust, great toppings and good sauce. Their pies have been in existence in the portland area for many years and there is a good reason for this. The inside isnt anything special here and the layout seems a bit cramped but the food is good.

Hah. This place is a joke. I walked into Flying Pie at 4pm on Friday afternoon for a slice and a beer and watch the first half of a Blazer game. There was one other customer in the joint who appeared to be waiting for a to go order. Walking up to the ordering counter I was met by a young lady who appeared about 18, busy taking a phone order. Of course that's fine. As she's getting off the phone she lets out this loud, exasperating gasp like she's SO swamped actually muttering something about the nerve of the caller. AWKWARD! I asked for a cheese slice and was told they don't do slices at that time. OK, no big deal, I'll just order a small pie and take some home. "It's going to be about 45 minutes", she says in a completely unapologetic tone. Again, no big deal since I was going to be staying for a while, but I probably would have canceled the order under a different circumstance. She had a tremendously hard time with the pint, pouring off the head over and over and over so it wasn't a surprise that when I sit down and take a sip it was flat as a witches teat. Ugh, now I have to go deal with grumpy pants again. She pours me another kind of beer, this time it's ok but still seemed a little off. Probably dirty lines from the keg. I also at this point asked her if she could put on the Blazer game on one of the 3 TVs and she acted put off and tells me it will be a minute because she's "so busy". So, I sit there and nurse my beer because I'm not ordering another one. 5 minutes later no channel has been changed so I waved one of the cooks over who was coming back from the bathroom and asked him if he could kindly put on the Blazer game. Haha, again! The kid literally rolls his eyes and begrudgingly grabs the remote and changes the channel for me. Owners, listen up. It appears that your staff are spoiled, entitled Lake Fancygo high school kids that need a manager who isn't afraid to call them out on attitude. Well, at least the young lady was right about the time it would take to get my pizza. 45 minutes later my name is called and I go to the pick-up window to grab my order and guess what? The half cheese and half pineapple and olives (I know, gross, but my girlfriend likes it) pie I ordered came with half pepperoni. So much pepperoni. SO, so much. Layers upon layers. Jeff H. wasn't kidding about the copious amounts of meat they suffocate their pizza with at Flying Pie. More does not equal better. Won't be returning. Also, beware the Ms Pacman game; it ate my quarter :(

Now Check It!!! You must know what your getting when you come here. Don't walk up in here tryna get a slice at 6pm...aint happening. Also if your on a diet then please tell em easy on the toppings cuz it'll weigh down your slice, seriously!!! Actually any pizza with more than 3 toppings is no longer a pizza and becomes something you eat with a knife and fork on a plate with your pinky up, lololol. Best way in my opinion is to order regular or thin crust, heavy FREE seasoning and FREE FRESH garlic. Extra crispy, well done! This ain't a NY stop in snag a slice then run type of joint so please don't be mad at the 30min plus wait. Here's a tip...CALL AHEAD!!! MMMMMM I can smell it now....No Seriously I CAN!!!!

Good ingredients, small salad bar, kinda older looking place inside, friendly staff. Every time I get a pizza to go they say it will be 30 minutes but there is so many toppings it always takes longer to cook. I got the extra large again, Miss Piggy with jalapeños and pineapple added, I just can't help myself, the pizza is that good.

Average pizza. Crust too doughy. Waaaay too much ham (see pic). Strip-mall ambiance. Worn out chairs and tables. Friendly servers.

First, let me say what Flying Pie is not. it does not offer thin crust New York style pizza. Chicago style deep dish pizza is not on the menu either. And if you are looking for California froufrou pizza covered with toppings that would make an Italian run from his kitchen screaming, then don't go to Flying Pie. Instead, Flying Pie makes the type of honest pizza you get in neighborhood pizzerias East of the Mississippi. The crust is tasty, the sauce has character, and the sausage and pepperoni are far more flavorful than anything you buy at the local grocery store. Oh, and let's not forget that the toppings are piled high and deep. This is not a pizza for those on a diet. A few other pleasant facts: - A nice selection of craft beers are on tap - Kids are always welcome at The Pie - The restaurant has the atmosphere of an authentic Midwest pizzeria - They have take out Finally, unlike the other great pizza places in town (Apizza Scholls and Ken's) you can actually get a table without waiting.

When you order pizza from the LO Flying Pie, you are setting yourself up for success. Pizza is an incredibly prevalent food today and there are few places which craft similarly immaculate, fresh, and delectable specimens as you will find at this establishment. This Flying Pie is the top of the heap, as far as I'm concerned. Please do yourself a favor and pick up a slice or a whole pizza here if you've never had it. I recommend stromboli. I wish I could rate six stars, but if I could, I would wish I could rate seven. The LO Flying Pie is not pizza done "correctly" or pizza done "well". It is pizza done perfectly. Now stop reading this review and go eat!
(5)
Jeff L.
I've tried the LO store twice now and both times experienced an unforgivably long wait; tonight my family phoned me twice wondering what had become of me. The unhurried pace of the kitchen would be far less irritating if the staff at least pretended to care, but no one offered so much as a "sorry for the delay." The pizza, when I finally got it home after almost an hour, was fine ... but I still wish I'd gone somewhere else.

First time here and took suggestion from employee on what pizza to get.."shake n bake" ..specialty pizza . HAPPY I did..crust was perfect and the toppings were evenly proportioned to every slice (have been to some where u were lucky to get 1 pepperoni on a slice. But anyway..it was awesome. They were closing at 10..and im sure reading to be done for the day..but when I walked in at 9:30 it was no problem and they were great. Thanks. .I will be back. Not big on salad..so cant give u a review on that..

Tried the Supreme Combo #1 on chicago style crust and a Supreme Sub with Sausage. I'll start with the pizza. First thing I noticed was the depth of the box. Definitely deeper than I was expecting. The second thing I noticed was a twinge in my bicep as I went to lift it up with one hand. Wow, this thing is heavy. We're off to a great start. Overall, pretty solid pizza. The crust had some good flavor to it, and I really appreciated real toppings that I didn't have to use a microscope to find. If I had to find a knock, obviously with a reasonably price pizza with tons of toppings, something has to give, and that would the quality of toppings. They are good, but if you're looking for top notch sausage and pepperoni, you're going to want to go somewhere that gives you less for around the same price. The sub was pretty solid, nothing I'd go out of my way for, but I enjoyed it. I'd put it in the same category as the pizza, good quantity for a good price, not the greatest toppings but certainly good. I'd read reviews where people complained about service, cleanliness, etc. I called in my order, was told it would be about 25-30 mins. I arrived in about 30mins and they were boxing it up, so no issues there. I looked around and didn't see anything that screamed dirty to me. I did see breadsticks? in a bowl sitting right next to the cash register that was within breathing/sneezing range of every customer that went up to paid. There was nothing covering them, so I can't imagine what the stale to germ ratio would be. All in all, I'd come here if I had a good appetite or was trying to feed a handful of people.

I just wanted to provide an updated review since my previous one is 10 months old. Service here is still great, the staff is friendly and always seems happy to be there or happy to help. Service has always been provided as quoted with no surprises. As i stated before, the toppings are generous, the pizza is great, and the service is great. I recommend it, and have returned many, many times over the last few months.

1. Walked by storage room near soda machine and smell was musty and strong... made sure I did not sit any where near it. 2. As someone stated earlier...too much cheese and very little sauce to note... 3. The pizza is a 7 out of 10 rating 4. Supervision is needed at this location by a manager... very loud workers (loud voices, slamming pans, etc.)

Good customer service, quality product, great family atmosphere. My only complaint is the high turnover in staff can make for a somewhat inconsistent experience, but I don't fault the establishment for that. Seems like thr nature of the industry. Solid gluten free options too!

Some of the better combo pizza out there. If you like greasy ol' fashion pizza, or looking to have a large gathering of people, this is a great option. I'm always happy to show up for a football game and see Flying pie pizza!
(5)
James F.
Their toppings are very large in size, so if you enjoy large chunks you will be getting your monies worth. I truly enjoy their calzones, flying pie's large toppings are perfect for them. Inside is comfortable and good for large groups. Parking is abundant as well.

Great pizza with lots of real topping. The sausage is real sausage, not some unknown prefab pellet like other places. Always consistent, with generous proportions. Our got-to pizza stop.

1) Dog Slow. Even with only about 3 customers in the place on a Sunday evening. 2) Some employee shouting at their TV while the Blazers played Golden State & most of what he was complaining about he got totally wrong. 3) Pie was just so-so. 4) Any and every Hot Lips Pizza location is 1,000-times better than this place.

One of the best by-the-slice offers I've had. Clean. Friendly. 10/10 would bang. The pizza, not the staff...

Lunch Special for $7 is a deal! It comes with salad, slice of pizza, and a drink. Got the cheese pizza, and it was good. Lots of cheese and the slice I could not finish. Im a fan!

Genna C.
If you've read more than a couple of my reviews, you'll know I like cheese. I made a list about it, even. This slice of cheese pizza may have been my tipping point though. Too. Much. Cheese. No seriously, I couldn't believe it either. Good crust, really good sauce. Service was friendly if a bit slow. Okay salad bar, small but fresh. Prices are ok with a totally reasonable lunch special for $7. But mozzerella on top of mozzerella on top of mozzerella is only (kinda) great when it's super fresh, housemade mozzerella. And this was good-ish, but totally drowned out the sauce and crust. Next time, I'll ask for light on the cheese and I think that slice will rate a review upgrade, it is SO close to being on my lunch rotation.

I love this place so much I would totally work here. It's my go-to spot if I eat out for lunch. I adore their lunchtime crew, a truly jolly bunch who serves up my pizza slice piled high with toppings piping hot and keeps the salad bar freshly stocked. Get the lunch special. It's something like $6 for a gargantuan slice of cheese pizza with salad bar, breadstick and a soda. Toppings are an extra $.25 a piece. Unless you are a professional eater don't get more than two, once you see the amount of toppings they pile on, you will understand. It's so much food I usually get two meals from it. If you are coming for lunch, I recommend getting there just before the noon herd of h.s. students show up or towards the end of the noon hour. Showing up exactly at noon is a rookie move and you will stand in a long line of annoying teeny boppers picking their zits and you'll lose your appetite. Anyways, back to the awesomeness. I love their pizza. It's served on a thick crust with a sauce that is just right and an overwhelming variety of toppings to choose from. Also there is beer! They have an excellent taplist of local favorites. The space is large so it can easily handle groups and there's plenty of cool memorabilia adorning the walls to check out during the short wait for your pizza. In sum, Flying Pie is cheap and crazy delicious. In the massively uptight circle-jerk that is Lake Oswego, this place is a welcome breath of fresh air.

I wished Domino's would learn a thing or two from Flying Pie Pizzeria, like the proper amount of toppings to put on a pizza to satisfy our pizza craving needs! This was my first time trying this pizza place only because it was someones birthday. I wasn't too excited about it since we usually have pizza once a week from Domino's and I didn't really want pizza AGAIN! But, and I say a BIG BUT here, this is like no other pizza I've ever had. I'm not a pizza connoisseur that knows what New York or Chicago style pizza tastes like. But, I do know that I love meat, zesty sauce and lots of toppings, and that's exactly what this place gives you. The decor and atmosphere of the building is nothing super great, but I can overlook this for gigantic pizza with gigantic amounts of toppings. Wait times for pizza wasn't really that long either. Our party ordered 4 (the biggest sized possible) pizzas for about 16 people and we had some left over. What does that tell you? If you want served, you have to go up to the counter and order each time you want a drink beer/wine/etc, which is kind of weird, but at least you can leave open a tab like at a bar. If I lived closer to one of these Flying Pie Pizzeria's, I'd be ordering a pizza possibly every Sunday since Sundays are "lazy, I ain't making shit for dinner kind of nights."

Flying Pie has outstanding pizza and a ridiculously good lunch special (slice and unlimited salad bar and drink for around $7). One of my favorite establishments.

Usually this place is empty when I drive by and now I know why... Bad lighting, it's dirty, and there is a lack of customer service - like when you ask for something and instead of the staff using big people words, they just point. The gluten-free crust was good. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and a pepperoni & pineapple pizza. My second pizza was just pineapple and the pineapple was only in the middle of the pizza. I had only one slice and tossed the rest. I went during the day on a Saturday and it was a game day. One employee was shouting the entire time at the screen because his team sucked and was losing. There was no place to escape this man's voice. Most customers who came in all migrated to the very front by the door to avoid sitting near this employee. I usually like Flying Pie, but this location sucks. Not coming back.

We went into the restaurant, but I think they do a lot more delivery and/or pickup orders. It took 42 minutes from order to table (we were told beforehand that it would be awhile due to order volume) and just under $30 for one large pizza, two beers and a coke. Not much atmosphere. I'd recommend calling in -- well ahead of time -- for the pickup or delivery.
(4)
Jeffrey Y.
This was the worst experience in a restaurant. The staff was barely willing to wait on customers and the guys making the pizza put more effort into talking trash with each other than making the food.
(1)
Alex L.
This place sucks. Service is slow, even when the restaurant isn't busy. If you bring a large group, expect to wait at least 30-45 minutes. That's not good for a pizza place, and they don't have anything else on the menu like sides or wings. Oh yeah, and the place is dirty. The long wait, lacking menu, and grime wouldn't be major issues if the pizza were any good. It's not. The high point every time I go is when the pizza arrives at our table. It smells delicious and is always topped so generously that it makes your neighborhood parlor looks like a nude-pizza-beach. Unfortunately, that is where the praise ends. Flying Pie's crust is tough and hard and the sauce lacks flavor. In fact, the whole pizza tastes like little more than salty, greasy chunks. I can't even tell what I'm eating most of the time. I'm a huge fan of pizza, but Flying Pie disappoints. Go to Papa Murphy's down the street and take home something edible.

Best Pizza in the Portland area. Try the whole wheat - so good. Don't forget the excellent salad bar too.

If you want a NY style of pizza, this isn't your place. If you want a true deep dish Chicago style pizza, this isn't your place. If you want a pizza parlor "Shakeys" style pizza, this isn't your place. But if you like medium crust pizza, zesty sauce, thick cheese, and a metric assload of toppings, then this is your place. I like a metric assload of toppings at times, and when I want that, I come here. I have never eaten at the establishment, as I always get my pies to go. So, I can't really comment on the amenities of the establishment. I can say, however, that the pies are pretty much ready when they tell me over the phone. If they say 35 minutes, and I get there at 35 minutes, they are just boxing the thing up. And that has been consistent. I have had the meat only pizza, the cheese pizza, and a margharita pizza, but the last one I had to basically order the toppings separately. I would suggest against this order, as they really specialize in lots of toppings, and it is difficult to do that with tomato and basil. The pies are consistent, and I pretty much know what I am getting every time I order. This isn't the best pizza in town, but when I just want some medium dough piled high, this hits the spot.

The Roma pizza was probably the worst pizza I've had. Just horrible. I thought I'd try the place since I just moved into the neighborhood. Wow, just awful.

Came here for lunch they looked kinda slow for it being the lunch hour. I ordered a simple French dip off of the hot sub sandwich menu thinking it would be something quick. 25 minutes later I got my order. The sandwich was good (but seriously who messes up a French dip) but it wasn't so great that it got rid of the sour taste in my mouth from the horrendously long wait. It would be one thing if they were slammed with business, but I only counted eight other people and six were eating. :/

I love this place because they're close to my job, but the quality is kind of hit and miss. Its never dramatically terrible, but it is disappointing after you've had a really good meal there. I usually get the guido sub w/ jus which is amazing, except for the random times when they decide to put 1/3 of the usual amount meat on the sandwich. I've had their pizza, its a bit greasy for my liking, but overall i'd say the lunch special (~6$ for a slice, salad, breadstick and soda) is worth the money. I don't get a bread stick because i don't want food that everyone ever has touched. Ill continue to eat here and probably continue to alternate between happy and dismayed. I wish there were more walking distance options, but there arent. Its new seasons burgers (which are delicious) or this, and eventually you get tired of burgers.

Impressive pizza with many options and quality ingredients. Tasty dough. Stromboli pizza will not disappoint! They definitely do not skimp on toppings.
(4)

Their pizza is nothing to boast about but it is good. If you're into the pizza game for amount and decent quality then this is your place. They fire the pizzas with all of the fresh ingredients there for a good while so the pizzas ARE made from scratch. I wasn't too excited about it, but hey, give it a shot. I say it's a 'go check out' kind of place.

Okay I really don't believe I will find a really thin crispy crust in Portland.... that being said, this is our GO TO place for pizza. Yes, too much toppings, not a complaint... they are super nice, and the food is super awesome!!! Only complaint is no delivery, but then we can go and get a pitcher of 10 Barrel Sinister... the best beer in the world!!

Given the high rating, really expected to enjoy the pizza here - I didn't. Ordered the "original thick" crust pizza with a selection of veggies, including jalapeños. It definitely was not Chicago style. The pizza tasted like cardboard - remarkably flavor free. I can't recall ever having a pizza with jalapeños that had no flavor. Seriously, how does a pizza with jalapeños have no flavor? They managed to accomplish it though. Certainly there must be some sort of culinary wall of shame prize for that feat. As I was waiting to pick up my pizza, noticed that of the four or five people preparing the pizzas, they all were doing it with bare hands. That's just unsanitary and gross quite frankly. I was trying to erase from my brain the thought of where those hands have probably been. Really disappointed to put it mildly. Won't be coming back here. Should have gone to Pizza Schmizza down the road on Westlake Drive instead, but thought i'd try something new. Mistake.

Stopped in here for lunch a while back. Unbelievable. Great pizza, fun atmosphere. Great people working here. My first mistake was I ordered TWO slices of pizza.... LISTEN to them when they say they pile the toppings on. I asked the guy if that would be enough and he said that it would be a pretty big meal... yeah right whatever. i'll probably be back for seconds. YIKES THEY WERE HUGE! I had a 4 or 5 topping meat and cheese, olives etc pizza. Giant chunks of sausage! Great sauce, Great crust! I can't believe yelp gives it two dollar signs. I think I spent 10 or 11 dollars and could've easily gotten a great lunch for around 5 or 6 bucks since I barely touched my 2nd piece. It didn't hurt that about 20 hot girls dressed to the nines came in for lunch that day. mm mm good. Just realized they have a location on Stark in Portland closer to me. OMG lunch tomorrow!!!!

I've been going to the original location for over 25 years. I started visiting this location when they opened and while the vibe is a little different, the pizza is just as tasty. This is a great place for a slice of pizza. By the way, if you can eat two slices, you're a champ. The pizza is very filling. I like to order a little more pizza than I can eat so that I can take it home. Flying Pie pizza is great reheated!

I live right up the hill and every time I go here it gets worse. The portion are huge but who cares when the food isn't that great? Last time I had a pizza here it was uncooked in the middle. The time before that I got a Calzone and it was equally strange. Just because this place is trying to be edgy and quirky doesn't mean its good.

Favorite pizza in the PDX Metro area hands down. Fresh and made from scratch.

If you are crazing pizza this place will satisfy those cravings! The combo #1 was epic! Tons of all the ingredients.... It did take a little long to make it, but when it's made right in front if you and it has that much stuff on it... Of course it's gonna take some time... But when it hits the table, wow! We ordered extra cheese which was probably smart to help hold the toppings together and on top of the pizza. I won't need pizza for 6 weeks at least now:)
(4)

We love this place! It's a "must stop" every time we're back in PDX. The variety is great and they don't skimp on toppings.

Long wait for a pizza that was o.k., not great. It was a tad greasy/spicy and wasn't very thick crust for a supposedly thick-crust pizza. They didn't have any appetizers on the menu - just a badly picked over salad bar or a cheesy bread that was at least 25 minutes too. One nice thing - they have games like Risk, Sorry, Trivial Pursuit etc. that you can play while you wait.

Just so everyone understands -- I think Pizza is one of the foods of the Gods. It was passed down to man directly from Mount Olympus. To serve or make bad pizza is sacrilege worthy of eternal damnation. This place is not far from visiting Hades. And it I isn't on just the pizza alone. The list is long: I had an extended lunch hour and since I am fairly new to the Tigard area, did a quick Yelp search and found Flying Pie had good reviews and was close to me, so off I went. The problems started almost as I walked in the door. A number of the tables were dirty. And even though there seemed to be staff standing around, they weren't being cleaned. A bad sign sure enough. I waited for the one customer, then made my way to the register and ordered. The medium pie (3 toppings) was close to $20. A bit more than pricey, but acceptable if the pizza is great. The young lady taking my order said it would be about 25 minutes for my pizza to be ready. That's cool -- good pizza takes time. So, lets get some sort of side so I don't have to start gnawing on the table. Wings? They don't have them. Moz sticks? Also a no. Okay.... Salad bar? Okay, we can do that. $7.50 for a salad bar? A **tiny** salad bar? When I just spent $20+ on a medium pizza?? OK. I was hungry. I also ordered a diet coke. I was handed a glass with about 3 ice cubes in it. I asked for more ice and was told they were running low. Geez. If you are going to have a restaurant with fountain drinks (or any cold drinks!) get a friggin' ice machine and put it next to your fountain! Can't afford an ice machine?? Get out of the business! So I filled my ice poor diet coke. As I walked past the register the young lady hands me a plate and says that I can pick a bread stick to go with my salad. Ahhh, do you mean the things sitting in ceramic containers next to the register? The things that the customer just ahead of me man-handled several of while making a selection? I think not. I will be named the first black, Jewish, transsexual lesbian Pope before I take one of those hard pieces of bread that God knows how many other customers have touched. (I politely declined.) I got to the salad bar. I tiny bit of lettuce and a tiny bit of spinach. I wasn't happy, but I can live with it. A few scattered veggies, some potato salad and dressings. I made as best a salad as I could and sat down. This was most definitely NOT worth $7.50. While I am sitting eating my puny salad, the guy who was evidently making pizza (the manager??) came into the dining room and very loudly and aggressively verbally dressed down another employee (a young lady) about taking too long to do some task or other. EXTREMELY inappropriate. Handle your private business behind closed doors -- not where your customers can hear or see. It's just flat inappropriate and unprofessional. Finally, my name was called and I went to get my pizza. The size was okay, and it was piled with the pepperoni, ground beef and green olives I had ordered. Got it to the table, took a slice and was prepared for the best. I was very disappointed. The huge chunks of ground beef were cooked to death. They were hard and crusty. The pepperoni was good, as were the green olives. However, there was hardly any sauce and just a smidgen of cheese. Overall, it was totally tasteless. Even the crust, which looked good, was bland. I managed to get down two slices before I got disgusted and walked out. While I very much hope this was just an off day, I venture is wasn't. I won't ever waste my time here again.

Good and BIG pizza. Flying Pie Pizza falls into a category that I call 'Meal-Pizza', because each slice of their multi-topped or combo pizzas is essentially a full meal. They are so generous with the portions of toppings that they liberally apply. My favorite topping from them is the ground Italian sausage with a strong italian flavor and a hint of heat. If you want the true taste and the true 'bite ' that the crust has, then you must eat it there right out of the oven. The seating area is comfortable and easy to relax in for a pizza place. Flying Pie is why my wife and I invested in a pizza delivery bag to keep the pizza hot on the way home. The problem is that when you do take it home for any distance away from the shop, then it does tend to be a little soggy depending on how much degreasing they do before packing. Usually they do a decent job of putting a perforated pizza pan on top of the pizza once it is done cooking and flip it upside-down to drain off any loose grease. The garlic style spices the add to the pizza also give it some pizzazz in regards to flavor. I have never had anyone say they have had a bad pizza or a bland pizza from Flying Pie. This pizza is also a must for anyone who prides themselves as a leftover pizza connoisseur. It is able to be reheated on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees for a few minutes to get the cheese melted and the crust to have a good pull again. Note: we once had one of the Genoa Stuff Style Old World Pizzas and it was the bomb - once again - each slice was a meal in itself.

Delicious pizza, friendly staff and huge slices for lunch!

I ordered the specialty "Shake n Bake" pizza. The menu says "no substitutions!" but that just means substitutions aren't free, not because they're premade. It wasn't the best pizza I ever had, but it was pretty damn good. It was a little pricy but the toppings were quite generous. Call ahead for the best service as the pizzas take ~30 minutes to cook. If you don't, there's a mini-arcade in the back as well as board games like Sorry or Yahtzee that you can play at your table to occupy your time. You can also go outside and watch the pizza guys make your food through the window. They take Discover and Amex. Orders are available by the slice (~5 min wait).

Had to balance one horrible pizza review with a stellar one. Oh, HELLO Flying PIe! You made me salivate.... My friend treated me to lunch here not too long ago; great time catching up (I'm friends with her whole family, and extended too) and playing with her kids. It was a great space, lovely time, wonderful, tasty pizza... pizza done RIGHT, might I add. Good to the last bite. In the shopping center off Boones Ferry, with the New Seasons nearby.

AMAZING beef dip sandwich. Essentiall a Chicago Italian beef. No kidding, the "Guido" is amazing. I've had WAY too many (But the last one had a really weak dipping sauce What's with THAT, guys?!?). We order the pizza with thin crust & it comes out great. No real disappoiontments so far.

It was the first time I had been back since the memorial. It seems strange to think that it was over a year ago. Sometimes it still seems like yesterday. It can be difficult dealing with loss, especially when it is a senseless loss. It can take time before fully sinking in and continues to be difficult as the realization they won't be back begins to cement itself in your mind. When you have someone as a close friend for 2/3 of your days on the planet, suddenly not having them around can take some getting use to. I'm still not quite use to it. Not sure if I ever will be. Sitting there, I looked at the photos on the wall, the memorial flyer I put my emotions and words into creating, the snowboard that no longer visited the mountains it loved, and the photos of the dear friend no longer here. Bittersweet was this lunch, sadness crept into my mind as my focus was on what was lost, not on the memories formed. A rare business meeting in Lake Oswego led to this opportunity to have lunch at the Lake Oswego Flying Pie. It was good to see Nate, to borrow the permanent marker to add my name to the memorial on the wall. Funny, a permanent marker to share thoughts in a world that offers nothing close to permanency. It is why I am constantly striving to live in the now, to create moments in the present. The slice of pizza that day was perfection, freshly cooked and heaped with toppings. Opie would approve. The Lake O location is spacious, has great employees, and will make you one hell of a pie, guaranteed to be covered in a mound of fresh toppings. Wait times can be long, especially on the weekends, so be prepared. But the pie is worth the wait. So if you should find yourself at the Flying Pie one evening, and see the snowboard hanging on the wall, know that it is in memory of a dear friend, whom in this present moment, continues to be missed. And there is some permanence in that.

This place has kind service, but they are rather slow, and the pizza isn't anything to write home about. A lunch special includes a slice, salad, soda and an old breadstick. It is a good deal but the quality was lacking so I am conflicted on being too positive about this joint. Honestly, while most everything was mediocre, the pizza slice was humongous and that redeeming factor which may actually draw me back.

Amazing toppings, great crust, decent sauce (lacking in quantity, but I bet I could ask for more) and great lunch deal! I'll be back! Also, dig that one of the employees was singing to himself; the employees seem to love working there.

Good pizza, not great. Took a long, long time. We had 1/2 veggie 1/2 meat pizza. Vegetables were good, special sausage was outstanding. Crust wasn't too good and almost non-existent sauce, but very, very generous on the toppings which somewhat made up for it. Atmosphere was pretty lackluster--especially considering the long wait for pizza.

Date Visited: Saturday 1/29/11 (Dinner) I really wanted to like Flying Pie, especially on Vegan Pizza Day. One thing that isn't so great is that their soy cheese of choice has casein in it, making it NOT vegan. So, this forced us to have the vegetarian pizza with no cheese. We had it on the whole wheat New York crust, which was just so-so for me. We asked for extra sauce, but not exactly sure that we got it. The pizza was full of onions (not the topping I would have put more of) and then had mushrooms, black olives, and maybe one other veggie on it. On top were uncooked tomatoes. I had my 2 slices and had no problem stopping there, even though I wasn't full. Lake Oswego is not a city we visit often, but we were visiting with my father's friends for a visit. The restaurant was pretty busy when we got there, but it really got busy about 30 minutes after we got there. The pizzas took over 45 minutes to get to us. They have a very weak system where someone just shouts out names when pizzas are done. The restaurant gets so loud and crazy that I'm not really sure how one hears the person shouting. Tables were messy and families were standing around for 5-10 minutes, waiting for someone to clear and clean them. At one point, we had a very loud family come over to the table near us. It all became too overwhelming and just annoying. Thankfully, we were able to make our escape and allow my family to continue visiting with their friends. I don't know how other locations are, but this one certainly won't be revisited by us. While the pizza seemed "healthy" to me, there was nothing special about it. I can make a similar pizza at home. In fact, I make a better pizza at home. It seems the more a pizza place is hyped up, the less I'm impressed. Maybe I'm missing something?

I've only had two pizzas from this pizzeria, but both have been great. They put a ton of toppings on so one pizza will feed at least four adults. Portland doesn't seem to have many good Italian restaurants, but this spot has good food & the prices are reasonable.

Worst pizza place ever. First customer Service is terrible. Not told how long it would take it took 45 mins for one large pizza, then I get glares for waiting or heaven forbid impatient. Then got attitude by a large bald man. News flash: the pizza I just bought from you is giving you a paycheck perhaps being polite will get a return customer but at this point I'll be sure to never come back and tell my friends as well. Also pizza was dry and the toppings all fell off. Lastly if people are waiting that long at least give them complimentary bread or salad. Horrible experience I'll be sure to tell everyone I know in lake O to do bellagios instead.

I had lunch here with a client. He's originally from Chicago and pronounced the pizza excellent. That's good enough for me. I had a slice of sausage & mushroom. The sausage topping was nice big chunks o' sausage. Good cheese and crust. Looks like good microbrews on tap, but too early in the day for me and I had to drive back to Seattle. I'll be back.

People are nice, casual. I tried cheese pizza here, I was a bit worried because it didn't look like it was going to taste that good, but it was delicious! Definitely going back again, I don't know what they do to the pizza but it's so good!

I'm rating this purely on the quality of their pizza and in comparison to pizza in the Lake Oswego area. Based on just their pizza quality five stars. Based on the quality of their pizza vs competition in the Lake O area they'd actually get like 12 stars. I love this place. I've never eaten in so I can't talk about the quality of service etc... but, the pizza is purely amazing. The toppings are generous, the dough (x-tra thin, NY style thin, Chicago style and focaccia) is always tasty and well proportioned in seasoning in relation to the toppings. Plus, the price is insanely cheap for such a good product. Definitely try the sausage on at least half the pizza, it's mind blowing even for me (a self professed sausage hater). I really can't say much more besides that they make a quality product which surpasses any other kind of pizza I've ever had in all of Lake Oswego.

We got the lunch special. A big slice of pizza, breadstick, salad, and drink. I got my old stand-by: pepperoni. This slice was almost completely covered with pep. I kinda wished the pepperoni was better, but I can't really complain about lack of meat. I had to break tradition, however, and eat the slice with a fork since it was so greasy. That's expected with pepperoni, but I had just returned from a job interview so I didn't want to get my suit oily. As for the salad, it was a salad bar so you could make a gigantic salad if you wanted to. I just loaded my salad with Bacos and called it a success.

I stopped in here after doing a search for pizza by the slice. The location is close to my house and now I know where to get a smoothie in my area (Jamba Juice a couple shops down) but sadly, they only do pizza by the slice until 4pm. Having arrived at 5:30, my hopes and dreams were squashed. I just wasn't hungry enough for an entire pizza, or a calzone which the staff described as "big" so I went for the cheesy bread. It was ok. Seems to be just pizza dough baked and chopped up into bite size pieces with a generous layer of cheese on top. Definitely cheesy to the max. They also give you some pizza sauce for dipping. Bummer that the pizza sauce was straight out of the fridge cold. Heating it up would have been a nice touch. The restaurant is laid back and friendly and reminds me a lot of the Round Table Pizza we had in our neighborhood as a kid. Some old arcade games. Framed pictures of Hulk Hogan in his Hulkamania prime and posters of Michael Jordan and Arvydas Sabonis. Good times. HD sports on the tv too. I'll probably go back when I'm a little more hungry to try the pizza, which obviously gets some high marks from others. But for a quick snack the cheesy bread was just kinda average.

This is some of the best pizza I've ever had; even take home, even the next day re-heated. The huge calzones are a steal and loaded for bear with goodies. The salad bar is nothing special but I've never had anything wilted or less than fresh in it. Well done, xtra garlic/sauce. Lots of people, kids and close to starbucks, New Seasons, a postal annex and Columbia outlet.

To talk to my Oregon-dwelling family, going to Flying Pie is a kind of religious pilgrimage. I mean, it's just pizza, right? On my last visit, my folks made a point of arranging a dinner here before I left. We got two pizzas -- a pepperoni and a #2 combo -- to share between five of us. I remember that pepperoni pie vividly. More than a mere pizza, it was a symphony of spicy porcine delight making sweet love to the goddess of all that is cheesy while slathered in a gorgeous sauce and nestled atop the warm, bready embrace of a damn fine crust. It was cooked long enough to brown the top and crisp the bottom, a move requiring a few more minutes than most places would invest but making all the difference. Hot damn, that was good. OK, I get it. I'm a believer. (The #2 combo was good, too, but it doesn't haunt my dreams the way that the pepperoni does.)

Valentines Day evening. Place is packed. One empty table. Everyone is happy, eating, the place is clean, the staff is friendly, etc.. We called in advance and the pizza was ready on time and it was perfect! We ordered the Stromboli, which is our usual, and it was amazing. The folks that had bad experiences must have visited during a shift change or something, not sure what to say. This is a family oriented pizza place and after 15+ years of visiting this place, it does not disappoint.

When I was in Portland, it was Game 5 of the Lakers-Jazz Series, a more than likely close-out game for the Lakers, so we decided to stay in so we could watch the game. This place is REALLY close by, so we got pizza from here because it has become their favorite piza. This is apparently a chain in and around the Portland area, but according to my brother, this one is the only location that serves this one BBQ chicken pizza with bacon. The crust was a little thicker, but soft and chewy in a good way. The BBQ sauce was good and they didn't skimp on the amount of toppings. Of course, the bacon just totally adds to it, so how can you go wrong? Definitely one of my culinary highlights from Portland I'm not sure how much the pizza was, but I've noticed the cost of food at restaurants in and around Portland are pretty reasonable.

The best pizza I've since moving to Portland. The toppings alone make the pizza worth it here. I'm done after 2 slices, 3 if I want to push it.

I Love Flying Pie. I have never had a bad pie and I have had a lot of Flying Pie Pizza Pie. The toppings are big enough you can identify them. They give you a ton, It costs a little bit more then others but they make up for that with quality. I had their $7.40 Lunch Special Today and I enjoyed every bite. Started with a very tasty salad bar and fresh baked bread stick the my GIANT Slice of Vegetarian Pizza. I am not a Vegetarian and never will be but this Vegetarian Pizza is the greatest. Loaded with mushrooms, onion, sliced bell pepper and topped (covered) with sliced tomatoes. It even came with a drink. I am still full and that was over two hours ago.

I am all for toppings on pizza (can't go wrong with a PMO) but I only get cheese when I come here. I made the mistake of getting a pepperoni one time and the pepperoni completely overpowered the flavor. Now, that is not always a bad thing, and, hey, its awfully nice of them to be generous with the toppings. But do I really need two pounds of the stuff? Flying Pie lets you specify crust thickness (I prefer thin or sometimes extra thin). They put plenty of cheese on the pie too; and the mozzarella is high quality. They have a nice, robust tomato sauce and be sure to ask them to add fresh garlic and seasonings. The cheese/sauce/crust ratio is just right. If you eat this baby nice and hot (I know, I know, the proper way to eat pizza), you'll love the flavor explosion. It's a pretty cool place to eat at too. Tons of pictures to look at. My kids like to go right outside the window to see them toss the dough and throw on the sauce and toppings. Taller kids can stand on the 'waiting bench' and see the pizza chefs do their magic too. I'm not sure if this is a major Blazer's hang out but I saw assistant coach Monty Williams and one of the employees told me Bayless was in the week before and Oden comes in sometimes. Anyway, don't go to see a Blazer. Go for a few slices of the good stuff.

I have visited Flying Pie twice already and the calzones are to die for. They're so good that I haven't tried anything else. The calzone is pretty much a stuffed 12 inch pie folded over. It's a great deal and a few bucks off the price of a small pizza. The interior is not much to look at, and the service is very very slow. I'm not entirely sure why it takes so long! On my second visit my friend and I were pretty much the only ones in there and it took about 40 minutes to get our pizza, but it was well worth the wait.

oh hell no. Friend and I stopped here to get pizza between classes (we only had an hour and figured pizza would work just fine) we ordered a cheese pizza. 45 minutes later... nothing.. we were the only people in the place.. I worked at a pizzeria for a year.. I know exactly how long it takes to make a pizza. Finally we had to ask them to put it in a to go box so we could make it to class When we got to school... we opened the poop pile that was suppose to be "pizza"... the crust was thick as hell and it was all doughy/mushy all throughout the inside. The sauce was thick and too heavily spiced. The thing was piled with too much cheese as well. (I love cheese could eat just cheese the rest of my life so its a big deal when I say too much cheese...) but we are talking.. we peeled off huge slabs and still had too much left on the slice.. it was greasy and tasteless.. yet still gave both of us stomach aches later that night... Needless to say I'll never go back and I'd recommend you never go at all.

Never had any less than the BEST, topping-laden pizza. It's a great service they perform by pouring off a great amount of animal fat when the pizza is just out of the oven. Extra garlic is delicious and feeds very imaginative "garlic dreams". Wine, salad & wall decor -- all intriguing.

Pretty solid overall. Dense pie and I could only eat 3 slices and was stuffed. Usually i put away 5-6 slices. Very kid friendly with 8 video games to keep them occupied while I watched an NFL game and chilled. Great micro brew selection on tap. Friendly service.

If you live in the Portland area, this is a must try place for families. The best pizza I've had since moving to Portland. Board games to play at the table, classic arcade games and you can watch them toss the pizzas up front.

Visited on a Sunday evening w/ my family (including two young kids). Friendly greeting right when we walked in by the employees. This was our first time, so we took a look at the menu for a while. It's not cheap pizza, but very high quality. Took about 25mins to get cooked and was worth the wait. Very good micro-beer selection as well, and reasonably priced pitchers. This is key, if you ask me, for getting a good review if you're a pizza place. Will definitely go back again, order take-out from, etc. Cheers.

I got lost in Lake Oswego tonight and stumbled onto this Flying Pie location - maybe it was fate that led me there, because I'd read good things about them and had been wanting to sample their wares. The place is in a strip mall, but despite that has really good pizzeria ambiance. I was a little disappointed when I found they don't sell pizza by the slice but I wanted to try some Flying Pie pretty bad and I was starving, so I pressed on. I ordered a small (12") thin crust pie - half cheese, half Italian sausage (I always rate a pizzeria on the strength or weakness of their cheese pizza). It took around 15 minutes for my pizza to bake, and when it arrived it was fresh out of the oven and piping hot. After it cooled down I took my first bite and was pretty impressed, especially by the quality of the mozzarella cheese and the incredibly delicious Italian sausage. The only negative thing I can say (and it isn't even that big a deal, really) is that there were a few spots where the crust was burned that tasted kinda funny. I will definitely go there again, but I'll probably call in my order ahead to avoid the wait.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

(4)Jeffrey L.
(4)Daniel B.

(3)Brittany B.
Great pizza! Super tasty and the ingredients are fresh, which is probably why it's more expensive. Worth the cost when I occasionally crave pizza. The "miss piggy" pizza is my favorite, it comes loaded with meat and the medium size easily feeds 3-4 pizza.
(4)Anthony K.

(5)Mark S.
(4)Jeff H.
Average pizza. Crust too doughy. Waaaay too much ham (see pic). Strip-mall ambiance. Worn out chairs and tables. Friendly servers.
(2)Terry K.

(2)Zach L.
Good customer service, quality product, great family atmosphere. My only complaint is the high turnover in staff can make for a somewhat inconsistent experience, but I don't fault the establishment for that. Seems like thr nature of the industry. Solid gluten free options too!
(4)Alex C.
Some of the better combo pizza out there. If you like greasy ol' fashion pizza, or looking to have a large gathering of people, this is a great option. I'm always happy to show up for a football game and see Flying pie pizza!
(5)James F.
Their toppings are very large in size, so if you enjoy large chunks you will be getting your monies worth. I truly enjoy their calzones, flying pie's large toppings are perfect for them. Inside is comfortable and good for large groups. Parking is abundant as well.
(4)Bill H.
Great pizza with lots of real topping. The sausage is real sausage, not some unknown prefab pellet like other places. Always consistent, with generous proportions. Our got-to pizza stop.
(5)Don H.
(2)Tim C.
One of the best by-the-slice offers I've had. Clean. Friendly. 10/10 would bang. The pizza, not the staff...
(5)Bernadette M.
Lunch Special for $7 is a deal! It comes with salad, slice of pizza, and a drink. Got the cheese pizza, and it was good. Lots of cheese and the slice I could not finish. Im a fan!
(4)Genna C.

(5)Paul L.
How long does it take th o make one pizza apparently over 45 mins. Pizza not worth the wait
(2)Jason S.
Still love this place after all these years if u like great pizza this is the place! Wish they had a face melter pizza with habaneros and stuff would be awesome!
(4)Katrina H.
Good Pie could use some more robust sauce and more flavorful dough.
(3)Jenny T.
(4)Daniel S.
Flying Pie has outstanding pizza and a ridiculously good lunch special (slice and unlimited salad bar and drink for around $7). One of my favorite establishments.
(5)Marie A.
(1)Charles M.
(4)Jeffrey Y.
This was the worst experience in a restaurant. The staff was barely willing to wait on customers and the guys making the pizza put more effort into talking trash with each other than making the food.
(1)Alex L.
(1)lee t.
Best Pizza in the Portland area. Try the whole wheat - so good. Don't forget the excellent salad bar too.
(5)Steve W.
(4)K W.
The Roma pizza was probably the worst pizza I've had. Just horrible. I thought I'd try the place since I just moved into the neighborhood. Wow, just awful.
(1)Dubious M.
Service with a smile (not). But damn good pie. Fistfuls of whatever topping mounded on with plenty-o-sauce beneath and cheesy goodness above.
(4)Olof E.
(2)Amber E.
(3)S S.
Impressive pizza with many options and quality ingredients. Tasty dough. Stromboli pizza will not disappoint! They definitely do not skimp on toppings.
(4)Avery M.
(3)Tanner A.
(5)Michael X.

(5)JR H.
(5)Eric G.
(2)Benjamin C.
Favorite pizza in the PDX Metro area hands down. Fresh and made from scratch.
(5)Johnny W.
(4)R S.
We love this place! It's a "must stop" every time we're back in PDX. The variety is great and they don't skimp on toppings.
(4)Ben S.
(2)Tommy W.

(4)Colin L.
Delicious pizza, friendly staff and huge slices for lunch!
(5)Andy B.
(4)Jana C.
(4)H O.
+: Crust was cooked to perfection and they were not shy with the toppings! -: Perfect spot for soccer moms and teams to grub at post game so expect a lot of screaming kids. !: Sauce on the barbeque chicken pizza was delicious! Yum, I can still taste it no
(4)Jimmy G.

(4)Brandon T.
(3)Nick L.
Amazing toppings, great crust, decent sauce (lacking in quantity, but I bet I could ask for more) and great lunch deal! I'll be back! Also, dig that one of the employees was singing to himself; the employees seem to love working there.
(5)Don S.
I'm from chicago and love Pizza. Ptld has no decent pizza, save flying pie? Get sausage garlic, extra sauce, thinnest crust (lower carBs) Killer D
(5)Jane D.
(3)Trevor J.
Go here all the time, pizza is good without toppings with toppings it's mantastic and over done, the people there are very friendly

(3)Dale R.
I've only had two pizzas from this pizzeria, but both have been great. They put a ton of toppings on so one pizza will feed at least four adults. Portland doesn't seem to have many good Italian restaurants, but this spot has good food & the prices are reasonable.
(4)Janie S.
